I am "Braving it and Shaving it" on March 16, 2013, and I wanted to get a head start on my fundraising.

Your donation (which is tax deductible) will help support people with blood cancers and fund Leukaemia Foundation's research for a cure to leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood disorders.

When people ask me why I'm doing this, I get a little stuck because there are just so many reasons. I'm doing this to raise money for this wonderful cause. A cause that touches the lives of so many beautiful children and adults alike.

I'm doing this to teach myself a special kind of awareness; That there are no certainties in life and to take nothing for granted especially health, not excluding appearance. In this day and age, I want to instill in my impressionable nieces a stronger sense of identity and purpose other than the one being fed to them by the media. I want their sense of self not to weigh heavily on the superficial side, rather true beauty that exudes from within.

I want to teach them that BEAUTY IS STREGNTH. Beauty is someone who has battled a disease and has the ability to smile at the end of the day.

Lastly, I'm doing this to reach out to the parents whose children are battling with leukemia. I can not even imagine what you are going through. I want you to know that I'm doing this in honor of your little trooper.

We have a vision to cure, and a mission to care.
